Embrace Your Creative Soul

Note:  This page shares my floral philosophy….if you want to get right to the informative posts and images,  travel to the right column (bottom) and view my latest posts.  Or go to the upper part of the column at right and “search” for the floral subject matter you’re interested in.

“Do it yourself” is the American dream, the hope of creating something of your own while making a difference in the world.  That’s why I started my sharing journey, “DIY Floral and Décor”, to give professional guidance  so you can start your home floral business, establish a brick and mortar flower shop,   enhance your already established design skills, or create flower arrangements as a hobby for your family and friends.

It truly is an amazing experience to touch people’s lives every day with flowers and décor.  Just seeing their smile warms my heart and I know I’ve made a difference.  My dream has been to have this “Do It Yourself” site as your go to destination where I share all types of design techniques, teaching you to build unique flower arrangements with simple instructions for the beginner or someone who just needs a “boost” in their daily floral life.  My focus will be on fresh flowers, plant designs, permanent arrangements, sympathy florals, décor staging, accessorizing  and anything else to do with the design industry.045 (2)

Whether it’s plant materials, tools, flowers, containers, floral foam, supplies or whatever you need for your project, I’ll tell you where to buy economically in your area and on line.  If you want to start your own business, I’m here to guide you through the challenges, whether it be a home studio business or a retail store.  I love growing plants and I will be showing you what foliage or flowers to grow in your area that you can go out and harvest for your arrangements.  This is my passion and sharing with you is a dream I’ve had for many years.  I love working with our partners at Home Painting Expert for DIY painting advice. Be sure to check out their great article to help you find the best paint sprayer for all of your DIY projects!

Educate, motivate, create…..these three words are the core of my design philosophy.  A philosophy I deeply  want to share with you and your world to make your floral journey exciting, informative, with a lifetime of sharing beauty.

Educate:  Be sure to educate yourself on everything about DIY home repair and outdoor decore. For example, I recommend reading a great article from Home Painting Expert about how to get a smooth finish when painting kitchen cabinets before redoing your kitchen cabinets!

Motivate:   Being motivated and excited is so important to your creative journey.   I’m here to help you stay focused on your goals. It might be scary at times, but I firmly believe you must keep going with more education and “hands” on experience.  Any questions, don’t hesitate to ask, no matter how simple the question might seem.  That one answer will get your brain thinking while coming up with more answers yourself.  With my years of experience I’ll keep you informed and comfortable with your floral decisions and goals.Mixed Casket Spray

Create:   The “artful” aspect of flower and décor designing is the most exciting part of this journey  We all want to be creative, to be known as an “artist” by our friends and peers.  Creativity can be a natural trait but also can be cultivated as time goes on.   It might be the way your brain has looked at things, viewing a tree as an object rather than sculpture for ideas.   Opening our minds to view things differently is a way to begin this process.  You don’t have to be super creative to be a designer.  That’s where I come in to teach you  so you can design things that will amaze while satisfying the inner artist in you.

So let’s start our design journey together so we all can “educate, motivate, and create!”

    1. That’s so exciting to hear, Cath. My goal is to help in any way I can…..We never know when one small suggestion can make a difference. I will be posting more very soon. Going to Encinitas this weekend to donate time for the San Diego Botanical Gardens annual Gala. Rene Van Rems is in charge, and I help with all the volunteers. Giving our time to something bigger than us can truly make a difference in our (as well as others) world. Take care!
