We sure get “stuck” designing in vases for our clients. Seems they expect, no DEMAND, these beauties come in mucky water vessels. Time to mix it up my friends! An inexpensive container lends itself to creating so much more. A cluster of willow, some moss, mix up the foliage….good to go!
Without much mechanical fuss, the willow gives the design a grand look for the dollars spent. Remember to always cut the thick bottom of the willow into a thinner version; then it will stay well secured in delivery or just to keep its place in the design, no matter where it goes.
One element to professional floral design is layering your greens. This gives your arrangement much more interest and depth.
A bit of dangling Spanish moss softens the willow…..almost how the moss naturally grows on oak trees. Emulating nature is a keen way to embellish our designs.
Always try new things; we never know till we put ourselves out there!
It’s the little additions we come up with in our designs that make a difference. Financially and artfully. These don’t have to be earth shattering. Just enough to give visual dimension. A little more time can give a whole lotta soul.
En suites in most houses probably aren’t embellished with permanent designs. Or if they are, might be a good idea to throw it out. Change up asked for, I oblige. Continue reading BAMBOO RISING
Walking through Costco I see a flower arrangement for $19.99, and think “how do they do that?!” Ah, mass production and cheap labor, that’s how.
If Costco can copy a picture, guess anyone can. Taking a little more time with design details seems to make sense. Or shall we just let them take over the planet?
Let’s face it, we’d all love to write a book about our designs, something that transcends time and our lives, a legacy to all that we’ve accomplished. Some designers reach that goal like my friend Mike Hines. This guy has it goin’ on, awesome creating while revealing his personal style as well. Sexy does sell, so why not use it to our advantage? With all the “food to table” farms around the country, vegetables are such an awesome product to design with. I happen to live around fields and fields of all types of vegetables, so coming up with a source for a project was a no brainer. You can easily get what you need from your local Farmer’s Market or grocery store, but having super fresh product was important for this event. Continue reading Veggie Decor
With my motto “Nature provides, we accept!” my harvesting continues with one of my faves, bark from the ever-generous melaleuca tree. With different varieties around the planet, I’m fortunate that many grow right in my area of California.
This tree has incredible benefits for our physical health (the Melaleuca line of products has amazing healing powers) but my love is using this wonder different ways in my designs. Continue reading Melaleuca Bark For Incredible Creating

Independence is something I cherish in our world, the ability to create with our own resources gathered from local stores like Home Depot, allowing to act on our design impulses without waiting for shipments. Their availability of goods enhances our skills beyond what we think we can do proving how resourceful we can be with our thoughts and our awesome hands. Happy creators make for happy clients!

We love our floral art, creating beauty that adds value to the world. Awesome isn’t it? But with that art comes the reality of having sales to continue the journey. Internet floral sales rise daily and we need to keep as many of those sales as possible. One thing I’ve found to be a huge asset is YELP. Continue reading Yelp It, My Friends
With day in and day out floral work, you might not realize the impact you have on the world. Creating floral gifts does make a difference in someone’s life, the “shock and awe” that someone thought so much of the recipient to send them flowers. It’s your honor to go the extra mile with your talent. Taking the time to saw, cut, and re work items to enhance the design gives them so much more to elevate their soul.
